Hello Doyle,
The £ 2999-00 excludes installation, we do offer this service but it depends on duct runs, ceiling material etc. Again ductwork price depends on the run from the central lofty unit to each room. Generally acoustic insulated ducting is around £ 80-00 per 10m box for 150mm ducting, slightly more for the 200mm ducting. Grills that we use are circular adjustable white grills, they come as a set with back plenum to connect the flexible ducting on to the unit. £ 20-00 each should cover the grills, and any good ducting supplier would have these in stock.
This system is cooling only, and as such the VAT inclusive price and including delivery of £ 2999-00 is at 17.5% rate, as cooling only products are not eligible for 5% VAT rate.
Systems take 2-3 days delivery, installation lead times can be enquired via email or over the telephone on 01200 428888.
Any questions, just give us a shout!
Best Regards
Grahame

Hi
How controlable is the unit ie. can each serviced room be controlled individually off/on/required temp etc
Thanks
Darren

Hi Darren,
The rooms are controlled from a centralised remote controller. Unfortunately as with most ducted applications the temperature will be uniformed across the rooms. You can select a temperature that you wish to cool to, but this will be applied across all the rooms that you supply. You can fit closable vents in the rooms to monitor the air flow and adjust to suit your requirement, or even thermostatically controlled baffles, but I fear that the latter option may prove very expensive. I would say the close-able grills at £ 20-00 each on the supply side will be the best option. The master controller sets the temperature and this is measured at the return air port in the fan coil unit.
Hope this helps, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best Regards

are there any air conditioners that use the heat exchanger to heat a swimming pool at the same time?

Dear Ms. Steven,
We have actually done that project in the past using a reverse cycle chiller, but never with an air conditioning condensing unit as the plant.
I doubt any manufacturer of air conditioning would honour the warranty as the condensing unit coil would need to be used as the heat exchanger through a sealed filtration tank. It depends on the size of pool also. We achieved a 4 degree temperature rise on an outdoor pool.
We no longer do this type of service, as the equipment was more refrigeration based and as such we have steered towards air conditioning.
If you are just interested in air conditioning we would be able to help you?
Best Regards
Simon

Hi
Could you advise how quiet/noisy this unit is. What about vibration levels through the loft floor?
Thanks
Min

Hi Min,
Noise levels on low fan are 55 dba, and high fan is 65 dba. This is mainly airflow noise through the exhaust to the external wall and also the compressor. Most of the compressor noise can be absorbed by using a product called TICO padding. This is anti vibration padding like this here http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.tiflex.co.uk/tico_s/tico-on-line/tico_s_1200×150x12.JPG&imgrefurl=http://www.tiflex.co.uk/tico_s/tico-on-line/tico-on-line.html&h=150&w=147&sz=4&hl=en&start=16&um=1&tbnid=QxaYApIJlLPerM:&tbnh=96&tbnw=94&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dtico%2Bpadding%26svnum%3D10%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den from this online web shop www.tiflex.co.uk

This absorbs a lot of the noise as it is the same anti vibration padding as used in aircraft.

Hi Simon,
Thanks for your info regarding Lofty Air Cooling system. I have a customer who is very interested in a system but I would like a copy of an installation/instruction manual before making a final decision on their behalf, In particular what room sizes can be cooled and if there are any duct length restrictions. These aren’t the only questions so a manual would be helpful. Is there one available to download?
Regards
Graham

Dear Graham,
Thank you for your enquiry.
I have emailed lofty Ltd to try and get a copy of the installation/operation manual for you.
A few things to note, the system comes with 4 x 150mm supply air plenum.
The system is 8kW in cooling duty and the size of the rooms it can do are dependant on the cooling duty they require. If you think of each spigot of 150mm dia. is 2kW each then the typical bedroom size it could do is 16sq. mtrs. However if you had a room of 30 sq. mtrs in a bedroom environment it would need 2 of the 150mm supply spigots to cool the room down effectively.
Maximum length of the ducts from the air handler is 5-6m, however the shorter you keep the runs the better. Also the nearer the air handler is to vent outside an external wall the more efficient it will be.
I will try and get a manual for you ASAP and email it across for you.
If you have any queries in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Best Regards
Simon

Hi,
Can you email me the manual too as I would be looking to install this myself.
Would the unit fit through a standard domestic loft hatch (500mm x 760mm to be exact)?
Many thanks,
Jeremy

Dear Jeremy,
Due to the popularity of the systems we are down to our last brochure. I am waiting for more to be photocopied so I can send out some more brochures.
They are designed to fit up a standard domestic loft hatch, roughly 470mm x 460mm measurements.
Best Regards
Simon

Hi, Does that price include fitting of the unit? How much is the ductwork and grills that are not included in the above price?
What style of grill is it? Will this unit provide heating in winter? Is it 5% VAT rate for domestic use?
How long is delivery of the system and any extras?
Cheers
Doyle
